University of Kentucky Targeted Assessment Program (TAP) Garnet Sexton, BS, CADC : Currently working as a Targeted Assessment Specialist through the University of Kentucky ‘s Targeted Assessment Program (TAP) and the Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) at the Family Support Office in Perry County, Garnet works with low-income families to identify and address barriers to self sufficiency. An MSW Student in the University of Kentucky’s Social Work Program, Garnet lives in Perry County with her two grandchildren who are 13 and 16 years old. Originally from Letcher County, Garnet has lived and worked in Eastern Kentucky most of her life. Garnet received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Virginia College at Wise, Virginia in 1996. She worked for Kentucky River Community Care (KRCC) as a Substance Abuse Clinician in both Residential and Outpatient settings providing diagnostic assessment, group and individual counseling and DUI services for nine years. While at KRCC, Garnet also provided case management and counseling services at Caney Creek Rehabilitation Complex and assisted with the development of a substance abuse component for residents with co-occurring disorders of chronic, severe mental illness and substance abuse. Garnet also worked at Project Advance, an intensive outpatient treatment program for women, as a Case Manager assisting women to access educational, employment and supportive resources in the community and providing CADC training and supervision for the staff. |
